Amber Valley School Sports Partnership

We had a great start to our week yesterday as we were joined by Mr Basterfield and Ozzy from Amber Valley School Sports Partnership. AVSSP are celebrating their 10 anniversary and we’re really proud to have been part of their journey since the beginning. Mr Basterfield explained some of the things AVSSP does in schools and also during the holidays whilst Ozzy was rather naughty throwing wristbands at the children!

Star Club

We’re really proud of our Star Club here at Fritchley CE Aided Primary School where we’re learning lots of new coding languages and all about hardware.

Goodbye Mrs Archer

Wednesday 9th November was Mrs Archer’s last day working at Fritchley. She has been the friendly face of the school for several years now and has been instrumental in securing fabulous additions to the school such as the trim trail and the ipads as well as thoroughly enjoying herself on our residential visits.

We are really going to miss Mrs Archer and am sure you will join us in wishing her the very best for the future.

Community Choir

Do you enjoy singing? Would you like to come along and sing with the Fritchley Community Choir? We meet on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm in Fritchley school hall and sing many different types of songs with all ages welcome.

Macmillan afternoon tea

A very big thank you from all of us at school to everyone who donated cakes and came along to support us at our afternoon tea in aid of Macmillan Cancer support. We had such a lot of wonderful cakes donated and some beautiful ones entered into the cake competition. It was a hard job tasting and judging this competition but someone had to do it. Well done to Fiona Hallas, who won with her lemon decorated sponge cake – delicious! And well done to Joe Allen for winning the guess the spots on the cake competition and winning the spotty cake, which was also donated. Thank you everyone, you have all been very generous for a very worthy cause.

e-safety meeting

Dear Parents and Carers,

Online Safety / CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) meeting – Thursday 15th September 2013 –  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

We will be holding a meeting for parents to share information on these two really important topics.  The ‘Healthy School Team’ will lead on the session and we will answer as many questions as we can.  It would be helpful if you could complete the enclosed survey and reply slip and return it to school by Monday 12th September.

e- Safety Survey Guidance:  e-safety is about the protection of children whilst they are using the internet and digital technologies.  This includes: risk-taking and inappropriate behaviour by children and young people; risks and inappropriate behaviour by others to children and young people; illegal activity.

Whilst our school strives to empower your children with the knowledge to stay safe, it is important that you have good awareness of the risks and dangers yourself.

If you can please complete the survey, the results will give us a better understanding of any risks or knowledge gaps so that we can help you.

We cannot stress enough the seriousness of this issue and therefore the importance of your attendance at this meeting.  If you would like your child to attend the out of school club whilst you are at the meeting (free of charge) please complete the reply slip below to give us an indication of how many children & adults will be attending.  Tea & coffee will be available after 3.30p.m. on this day should you wish to stay in school until the meeting starts.

Ms Baker

Welcome Back!

I hope you have all had a lovely summer holiday and are now excited about coming back to school.  I know all of us at school are very much looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday next week.

There is just time to give you a few reminders about school uniform and P.E. kit so you are all ready to go for the new school year.

Our school uniform expectations are:

Black or Grey school trousers/skirts/shorts/pinafores

Blue jumper or cardigan

White, Yellow or Blue Polo shirt

Black school shoes (no sandals)

Uniform with our school logos on is available at Children’s Choice, 14 Bridge Street, Belper

P.E. Kit (to be brought in on Tuesday and left in school for whole half term):

White t-shirt

Navy shorts

Plimsolls

Trainers (Please check that these fit your child before sending them in to school)

Sweatshirt & Jogging bottoms – these do not need to be new or be matching but are essential as we do P.E.outside in all weathers

Socks – if your child wears tights to school

We have a limited stock of P.E. kit in school that is available for your child to borrow for one off sessions and to help you stay informed you will be notified if your child regularly does not have their own P.E. kit.  Stocks were diminished of school P.E. at the end of the Summer term so we would be grateful if you could check at home to see if any of the kit has been accidentally brought home.

See you next week!

Ms Baker
